Why is my account banned?

Why was my account banned?

We understand that having your account banned can be upsetting. At Muzz, we’re committed to keeping our community safe, respectful, and focused on helping Muslims find a spouse the halal way.

If your account has been banned, it means our moderation team reviewed evidence that showed your activity went against our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.

Reasons your account may be banned

Bullying or harassment

We don’t tolerate behaviour that intimidates, threatens, or repeatedly targets another member.

This includes:

  • Sending abusive or threatening messages
  • Harassing someone after they’ve asked you to stop contacting them
  • Repeated unwanted contact, including through multiple accounts
  • Behaviour that makes another member feel unsafe

Defamation

Making false or harmful statements about another person isn’t allowed.

This includes:

  • False accusations
  • Sharing damaging claims without evidence
  • Attempting to harm another person’s reputation

Hate speech

We have zero tolerance for hate speech.

This includes:

  • Content targeting someone because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender or sexual orientation
  • Promoting hatred or discrimination
  • Encouraging violence towards individuals or groups

Illegal activity

You can’t use Muzz for illegal activity.

This includes:

  • Promoting or arranging criminal activity
  • Selling illegal goods or services
  • Encouraging others to break the law

Impersonation or fake profile

Members must accurately represent themselves.

This includes:

  • Pretending to be someone else
  • Using another person’s photos
  • Providing false information about yourself
  • Creating fake or misleading profiles

Inappropriate

We expect members to communicate respectfully and use Muzz only for its intended purpose.

This includes:

  • Offensive or abusive language
  • Sexually inappropriate comments
  • Behaviour that makes other members feel uncomfortable or unsafe
  • Using Muzz for reasons other than seeking marriage

Minor (safeguarding issues) or underage

Muzz is only available to people aged 18 or over.

If we receive evidence that someone is under 18, we’ll permanently ban their account.

If you believe this happened by mistake, you’ll need to submit:

  • A recent live selfie
  • A clear photo of your government-issued ID

Not genuine

Muzz is for Muslims who are genuinely seeking marriage.

Accounts may be banned if they are using the app casually to only seek friends or without marriage intentions.

Nudity or sexually explicit content

Sharing or requesting sexual content isn’t allowed.

This includes:

  • Nude or sexually explicit photos on your profile or in chats
  • Sexually explicit conversations – even in private chats
  • Asking members to send intimate images or videos

Polygamy

While Islam permits polygamy under specific conditions, it isn’t legally recognised in many of the countries where Muzz operates.

Because of this, Muzz can’t be used to seek additional spouses while already married.

Privacy or personal information

We expect members to respect each other’s privacy.

This includes:

  • Sharing someone’s personal information without their permission
  • Posting private conversations publicly
  • Revealing another member’s identity or personal details

Scam or fraud

We actively remove accounts involved in scams or dishonest behaviour.

This includes:

  • Asking members for money
  • Financial scams
  • Investment schemes
  • Identity theft
  • Attempts to deceive or exploit other members

Spam

Spam negatively affects the experience for everyone.

This includes:

  • Sending the same message repeatedly
  • Unsolicited advertising or promotions
  • Automated or excessive messaging
  • Promoting businesses, products or services on your marriage profile

Violence or disturbing content

Content that promotes or glorifies violence isn’t allowed.

This includes:

  • Violent threats
  • Graphic or disturbing content
  • Encouraging violence or self-harm
  • Celebrating or promoting violent acts

Other

Some bans don’t fit neatly into one category but still involve serious breaches of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.

Examples include:

  • Repeatedly breaking our Community Guidelines
  • Creating multiple duplicate accounts
  • Any other behaviour that puts our community at risk

Can I appeal my ban?

If you believe your account was banned by mistake, you can submit an appeal using the link shown when you try to log in.

Every appeal is reviewed by our moderation team. We’ll assess the evidence and decide whether the ban should remain in place.

To make sure your appeal reaches the right team, it must be submitted through the official appeals process. We aren’t able to review ban appeals sent by email or through customer support.

Please note that not every ban is eligible to be overturned. Where there is clear evidence of a serious breach of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, the ban will remain in place.

Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful community for Muslims who are genuinely seeking marriage. Thank you for helping us do that.
