Dear Muzz,
So I’m finally ready to settle down with a practicing Muslim, preferably of a simialr ethnicity. I dated someone before who wasn’t Muslim and was of a different ethnicity to me… it didn’t work out. Our ideologies clashed so much. She didn’t really get my traditions and would always question everything we would do and it got exhausting to be honest. I realised that being with someone who shares the same traditions and values as me would be the best solution (for me personally). I’m ready to settle down. Any advice?

It’s great that you’re thinking about settling down. Although mixed cultural marriages are beautiful and it can be really nice sharing and learning from someone of a different culture, I do understand where you are coming from in wanting someone who shares the same cultural values as you.
Luckily for you, this app is literally perfect to help you find someone with your criteria. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but we’ve recently updated our ethnicity filters, meaning it’s easier for you to A) identify yourself as a certain ethnicity, but also B) find someone of a particular ethnicity. So hopefully that’ll help you in your search for someone of a similar cultural background. With regards to a practicing Muslim, on each member’s profile it says how praciticng they are, e.g. whether they pray 5 times a day, drink alcohol, smoke etc. So that should hopefully narrow your search down 🙂 If you upgrade to gold, you can also filter for levels of practicing etc. – making your search even easier.
But something I would point out is that you were dating a non Muslim, so ofcourse their ideology and values are completely different to ours, perhaps it would be different with a Muslim of a different ethnicity – what I’m saying is don’t completely shut the door to people of other ethnicities x

Okay enough of the sales pitch…
I get what you mean though, I find this happens to me even with the people I’m friends with. When someone is of the same culture, understands the traditions, speaks the same language, it’s just easier to get on with them. It’s like you can relate to each other on a totally different level. Which I’m sure you know by now since it didn’t work out in your last relationship. But that’s the good thing about breakups. It shows you what you don’t and do want in a future spouse! So now you can find them on Muzz with fresh eyes 😉
