This officially makes us the world’s LARGEST Muslim Marriage app. Which is pretty amazing.
Started from the bottom now we here
I was so fed up with how bad all the online platforms were for Muslims. So I decided to build something myself. Something more modern and way more user friendly.
Muzz started way back in 2011 as a website (would you believe!), before the rise of mobile apps. It looked a little like this 👇
It was pretty revolutionary at the time and even though it was small, it led to a few weddings.
We launched the app with ZERO members
In 2013, smartphone apps were becoming a thing. I was convinced that no one would use a website to find a partner – it’s just so impersonal going on a computer to message someone.
Muzz HAD to be an app.
So I decided to quit my job, and learn how to build apps. From my bedroom at home, I worked hard for 6 months and launched Muzz as an app on Apple and Android – the first Muslim marriage app out there.
It was so important that we were honest with our members. We launched the app with ZERO members. Yes. ZERO. No fake accounts to pretend it is busy, none of that stuff. We grew day by day from honest beginnings.
Since then, we’ve rebuilt the app 4 times – and have been adding so many features along the way.
We were the first Muslim marriage app to have free video and voice. You guys loved it – and are having more calls than ever before!
We keep listening to you – adding things like ID and age verification, more specific filters, more privacy, better profile ratings, richer profiles (yay to video on profiles!) as well as new experiments with virtual speed dating which we launched in the UK and US.
We lead and innovate – others copy.
The team grew
In the early days of Muzz, I would be building the app, doing marketing, fixing bugs, taking care of customer support, and designing the new features. It was exhausting.
Thankfully now – the team has grown. We are over 100 employees – from New York to Kuala Lumpur – all here to build the best product to bring Muslims together. We want to build something we can ALL be proud of.
If you can’t buy us, sue us
You guys would all have heard about our battles with the Match Group (owners of Tinder, Hinge and about 50 other apps).
They tried to buy us. We said no.
They bought another Muslim app, and then months later, shut it down!
Then they sued us instead. They sued us in the UK and then started to sue us in the US. Rather than compete fairly with us, this is how they try to hurt their competitors. It is a tactic.
We sadly lost in court, and had to change our name to Muzz. It cost us millions in legal fees, but Alhamdullilah for everything.
We kinda like Muzz now 😊 It is a great name for our future – beyond purely marriage.
We love going viral
Our marketing campaigns are famous. And global.
Who can forget our legendary London Underground Tube ads?
Or our famous Find Malik A Wife campaign – where we got a real single and helped him on his search for the ONE.
In France, Muslim women have been facing pressure from the government who are trying to control what they can and cannot wear. They went so far as to ban Muslim women wearing the Burkini. Muzz decided to pay for any woman who was fined for wearing one.
Our ads have been global – from New York to Pakistan. We’ve been making you guys laugh, smile and be proud of a large Muslim company being unashamedly MUSLIM.

I still remember one of our first international weddings we had in Uganda, back when Muzz was tiny. Allah works in mysterious ways – he was the only man in Uganda and he matched with the only other woman in Uganda! Mashallah!
Some of our other favourites include two single parents who matched on Muzz as a result of both of their kids creating a profile for them in an effort to get them married! See – it’s never too late to find someone.
Some of our international stories have been amazing. Seeing you guys fly across the world to marry the one, seeing different cultures and backgrounds mix together – it is a blessing for us to be involved in helping to make these unions a reality.
We have to give back
Charity is such a huge part of our faith. We want to make a difference in the world and use our platform for good.
Alhamdullilah I am so pleased to share that to date, we have raised over $1.2 MILLION DOLLARS. This is an amazing amount – and all thanks to your generosity.
We’ve helped women in Niger, built a bakery in Sudan, a school in Pakistan, shelters for earthquake victims in Turkey, mobile clinics for Palestinians and helped gather crucial aid and medicine for the people of Gaza.
Every year we challenge ourselves to be more ambitious with our charity, and Insha’Allah this year will be no different. Stay tuned to hear about our Ramadan 2024 campaign.
Let’s make friends
We all use social media and we all see how it doesn’t serve Muslims well. We face our posts about Palestine being shadow banned, dark algorithms, random blocks as well as inappropriate content in our feeds.
It’s time we fix this.
At Muzz – our goal is to bring Muslims together. Connect and unite the ummah. It is amazing that we travel across the world to marry someone special. But Muzz can be so much more than this. We can use Muzz to help you find friends, to connect with your faith, your community and to find events near you to meet new people.
Stay tuned – over the next few weeks we will be rolling out the biggest social network for Muslims on Muzz. You guys will be the first to use it and claim your handle before anyone else does.
