Salma and Bence matched on Muzz in 2024.

Bence, a 23 year old Austrian living in Graz, had reverted only a short while before downloading the app for the first time, and knew that finding his other half was the natural next step in his religious journey.

Salma on the other hand was a born muslim who had lived in Morocco for her entire life and was in the process of finishing her studies.

Little did they know, their two stories were part of the same book, their paths drawn out in the same shade of ink.

In a stroke of divine artistry, and testament to the intertwinement of their souls, the day Bence reverted was actually the day that Salma started wearing the hijab.

What followed can only be described as the enactment of a tale written long before they first laid eyes on one another.

During their first conversations, Salma didn’t speak English or German, so her sister took on the responsibility of translating.

She has since spent countless hours learning and perfecting both, but under the watchful eye of her sibling, overcame the early restrictions of an unfamiliar tongue, and found a way to express the language of her soul.

Only a month later, taking her completely by surprise, he went to her home in Morocco with his entire family to ask for her hand in marriage.

Her family agreed, under the condition that she promise to continue her studies from abroad.

They held their Nikah shortly after in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest relatives, before inviting all of their friends for a traditional Moroccan wedding party later down the line. In particular, he was taken aback by his new family’s hospitality, and had never eaten so much food before!

At the conclusion of the celebrations, they moved back to his hometown of Graz in Austria together so he could continue to work while she studied. The start of her new life was accompanied by the arrival of a new roommate; a grey British shorthair affectionately named Toffee, gifted to her by her new husband as a way of settling in. In her words, it was the best gift she has ever received.

Now, almost a year later, the two young newlyweds are planning to go on Umrah together.

Their story serves as a beautiful reminder that when things are done the halal way, no obstacle is too great. In the face of distance and adversity, they found one another and overcame the odds.
