Head of Mobile Engineering
London, UK (Flexible remote)
£90,000 - £120,000 + equity
We’re looking for an experienced leader to join our engineering leadership and take charge of all aspects of mobile engineering. You’ll be leading a 20+ team of iOS, Android and QA engineers to drive best practices and work with our squads on delivering key company initiatives.
As the head of mobile engineering you will work with the iOS and Android native teams on architecture, team ways of working and tackling technical debt. You will work with our manual and automation QA team on ensuring speed and quality of release.
You will join a 3 person engineering leadership team including the CTO and Head of Backend Engineering to tackle cross company company initiatives vital to the company’s success.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years Android and/or iOS
- 5+ years leading engineering teams
- Extensive mentoring experience
- Solid architecture experience
- Has worked in a role that requires a mix of product and engineering decision making
- Happy to balance relative needs across the business to make quick decisions

Day to day
- Lead a 20+ team of iOS, Android and QA engineers
- Drive best practices in iOS and Android through the team leads
- Work with our AppCore squad on mobile developer experience to enable us to release features faster, reduce technical debt and increase developer satisfaction
- Work with the QA manual team to ensure QA processes result in a high quality stable app and efficient no-drama weekly releases
- Work with the QA automation team to ensure good quality test coverage and that they are enabling the manual QA team in their goals
- Work as part of a 3 person engineering leadership team to uncover issues across engineering, agree best practices and solve cross company engineering challenges.
- Help leads within the teams grow and push them to achieve excellence within their area
- Own cross company initiatives and work with squads to prioritise and deliver
- Ensure processes that are key to app delivery like localisation are efficient + high quality
- Understand the unique engineering challenges and opportunities in the Android and iOS teams.
- Keep on top of changes in the Android/iOS ecosystem that will impact us like new OS versions and work to mitigate them
- Stay up to date with new opportunities in the Android/iOS ecosystem
