Why I Joined Muzz After Finding My Life Partner Here

Married in 2020

From Match to Mission

In 2018, I met my wife on Muzz.

I had been searching seriously for about a year across various Muslim marriage apps. While I kept an open mind, I knew the values I was looking for and was hopeful for the ‘she’s the one’ moment.

Even in 2018, Muzz was still fairly new on the scene for Muslim marriage apps. The app looked modern and slick, so I gave it a go. My wife had been using it casually, without a strict timeframe, but we both knew what we were looking for. We connected, talked properly, met safely, involved our families, and got married the following year.

Like many South Asians, I grew up in a community where parents often take the lead in matchmaking. While I respect that route, I knew I wanted to take responsibility for this decision myself. Choosing who you marry shapes every part of your life, and I wanted to make that choice on my own terms.

Coming full circle

6 years later, I joined Muzz.

Today, I’m a Product Marketer here. I design and execute carefully crafted customer journeys through our communication channels that guide users from sign-up to serious conversations. We aim to support people in making healthy, informed decisions.

It’s not just marketing. It’s education, reassurance and support for people navigating a challenging and emotional process, sometimes for the first time.

The App has changed… A Lot

We won’t pretend we’ve cracked matchmaking for everyone, but we’re getting closer every day. In just the past year, we’ve made real progress to make meaningful matches more likely and safer.

Here’s what’s changed:

No more ghosting: You can now have up to 5 active chats at a time, so conversations stay intentional, not endless.

Match expiry in 72 hours: If no one makes a move, the match disappears. It’s our way of encouraging genuine action.

Real safety upgrades: From better reporting tools to stronger verification and tighter moderation, we’ve made Muzz safer for everyone.

From these changes alone, we’ve seen an increase in quality conversations. While liking and swiping have gone down, meaningful exchanges between users have gone up, which is a clear step in the right direction.

This isn’t just a refresh. It’s a shift in how we approach Muslim marriage. We are building for people who are ready.

I listen everyday

I read success stories, study user feedback and constantly think about how we can improve the experience for the next couple.

There are people just like the 2018 version of me logging in today. People who want to find a partner without wasting time. They might be trying other apps, and more often than not, they are coming back to Muzz. My job is to make that journey smoother, wherever they are in the process.

We can build the best app in the world, but we cannot lose sight of the human side of this. Choosing a life partner is one of the most important decisions anyone makes. We are here to support that, not get in the way.

What’s next

We’re not fans of endless swiping either. That is why we’re working on smarter ways to suggest profiles so you see people who are genuinely a better match for you.

We also know the first message can be awkward especially for men who are not sure how to start the conversation. We are testing new conversation prompts to make that first step feel a little easier and help build confidence.

And most importantly, we’re focusing on real problems that people face when searching for love. We hear you, we get it and we are doing something about it. Our product team is hard at work building solutions that make a real difference.

This isn’t just about helping people match. It’s about helping them succeed.

I found my partner on Muzz. Now I work here to help others do the same. If you’ve had a similar journey; we’re building this for you.
